The Business Check- Up

Whether you are planning on starting a business or have an existing business, a Business Legal Check Up is essential to the good health of your company. Simply put, any legal problems uncovered by the check-up can be remedied before any damage is done and money lost.

A business must be compliant with the law. Failure to do so puts the business at great risk. I often find business owners are fearful of the cost of keeping up with state and federal regulations and find after the check-up that the cost is minimal and the owner immediately puts processes in place to ensure it is in compliance. They sleep better too!

During the business check-up, I will examine your business structure and other documentary records to see if there are any gaps or if there can be improvements made. I am able to quite quickly determine if there are any areas for more thorough examination and will explain my concerns.

A basic Business Legal Check Up will provide a review of the following:

    1. Any Corporate records, filings and registrations;
    2. Contracts used by the business;
    3. Intellectual Property owned by the business;
    4. Regulatory Compliance (this is especially important as to employees);
    5. A review of the company’s web site for compliance;
    6. Is there a Business Succession Plan in pace
    7. Is the business consistent with procedures to maximize a purchase price if sold.
